Rights group urges fair Covid vaccine rollout in Syria: Over 100m vaccinated across the globe

World February 3, 2021 PARIS: More than 100 million Covid-19 vaccines have been given around the world, an AFP tally from official sources found on Tuesday. But none of the world’s 29 poorest countries has formally started mass vaccination drives, while the richest nations have given more than two-thirds of jabs administered. Israel leads the race by far, with 37 percent of its population having received at least one dose, while more than a fifth have already got their second. Yet more than a third of humanity (35 percent) live in countries where vaccination has yet to begin. After Israel, the countries that have given the most doses are in North America, Europe and the Persian Gulf.

Uber acquires alcohol delivery startup Drizly for $1 1B

SHARE Uber Technologies Inc. today said it has acquired alcohol delivery startup Drizly for $1.1 billion in stock and cash. Founded in 2012, Drizly offers alcohol delivery in 1,400 cities across the U.S. and Canada. The company works directly with local beer, wine and spirit merchants to offer thousands of “new, local, well-known and not-so-well products.” Drizly claims to deliver alcohol in under 60 minutes and it also operates a last-minute alcohol gift service. Coming into its acquisition, Drizly had raised $119.6 million in venture capital funding from investors that included Tiger Global Management, Avenir Growth Capital, Polaris Partners, Accomplice, First Beverage Group, Fairhaven Capital Partners and Cava Capital.

Feel Good Food at Home, Clinton: As Clean Plate Kitchen, a health-focused restaurant in Clinton, is temporarily closed due to the pandemic, its founders have launched a new business. Feel Good Food at Home delivers ready-prepared meals and also periodically hosts virtual cooking classes, including a Valentine s Day-themed class on Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. The $75-for-two, one-hour Facebook Live class will feature miso- and maple-glazed wild caught cod, roasted broccolini, and buckwheat soba noodles with sesame seeds and ginger teriyaki. The meal is gluten-free and dairy-free. All ingredients are included and will be prepped and ready for pickup at the Clean Plate Kitchen.
